Job Description



NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego are seeking a Spanish-language Digital Media Producer to play a pivotal role in the daily execution of our multi-platform news strategy. This position reports to the duopoly Digital Manager and works to offer consistently up-to-the-minute, impactful and relevant news for mostly Spanish language users. The right candidate will be fluent in Spanish, highly organized, and creative. The role combines editorial judgment, and hands-on content production within a fast-paced 24/7 newsgathering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather, research, write, and edit local news content, focusing on our brand pillars of breaking news, weather, consumer, investigative, and stories that impact our community.
  • Write, edit, and publish stories, including preparing pre-pro elements, text articles, video clips, packages, and digital elements. 
  • Collaborate with producers, reporters, and talent on both broadcast and digital platforms. Provide editorial feedback, critique production quality, and ensure content aligns with editorial standards and meets time constraints for on-air and digital delivery.
  • Edit live event coverage or breaking news footage for quick turnaround, ensuring stories are engaging, visually compelling, and delivered under tight deadlines.
  • Publish content across platforms, including broadcast, digital, social, streaming and emerging platforms.
  • Optimize content for SEO and audience engagement, ensuring maximum reach and impact.
  • Oversee the production and management of live video streams, ensuring seamless integration into our digital platforms. Occasionally collaborate with reporters and talent to create original content for OTT channels.
  • Maintain NBCU’s Local legal and standards practices and ensure voice, tone and mix of content fits the overall editorial strategy created by NBCU Local.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in digital media production, journalism, or content creation.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content.
  • Proficiency in multimedia tools for editing and publishing (e.g., video editing software, CMS platforms, social media tools).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent Spanish-language writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital content optimization.
  • Experience in livestream production, podcasting, and OTT content management is a plus.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams and departments.
  • Strong editing skills for television, with the ability to work under pressure to meet live broadcast deadlines and produce polished, on-air-ready content.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
