Job Summary:

As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be pivotal in managing transactions impacting the inventory subledger, overseeing inventory costing, and maintaining related methods. You will work closely with supply chain, production, accounting, and finance departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory valuation and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

Monthly Close Process: Assist with the monthly close process for inventory modules, including preparing inventory and cost-related journal entries and completing account reconciliations.
Inventory Controls: Monitor and establish additional controls to ensure accuracy in the ERP inventory subledger and other source systems.
Purchase Price Variance Analysis: Track purchase price variances, provide fluctuation analysis, and report on these variances, partnering with finance and accounting departments on product profitability.
Variance Resolution: Work with production and supply chain teams to explain and resolve purchase price variances and establish criteria for changes to standard cost.
Physical/Cycle Count Review: Assist in the review and reporting of physical/cycle count processes and procedures.
Inventory Reserves: Analyze inventory for potential excess and obsolete reserves and make related entries in accordance with company policies.
Standard Cost Maintenance: Review and maintain periodic Bill of Materials cost updates and assist in costing reviews for new product setups.
Audit Support: Provide support and analysis for external auditors as it relates to costing and inventory.
Confidentiality: Exercise integrity and confidentiality in all financial reporting.
Project Support: Support other accounting and finance projects as needed.
Required Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant finance experience, including at least 5 years in inventory and cost accounting with demonstrated levels of advancement.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; advanced Excel skills and familiarity with various data systems are essential. Experience with SAP is a plus.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of inventory-related functions, standard cost methodology, and US GAAP.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
Team Player: Flexible, proactive, and a self-starter with a hands-on approach to responsibilities
