Summary/ Objective:

The Corporate Transportation Manager ensures that our fleet is operating in optimal manner to provide on-time delivery service to our customers in a safe and efficient manner. Creates route assignments, processes account information, and oversees route delivery and other general transportation activities. Monitors all deliveries, ensuring that they are completed effectively and efficiently. Maintains vehicle maintenance records and Department of Transportation files as required. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Evaluates the performance and efficiency of existing transportation operations, implementing adjustments when necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze delivery route performance and efficiency and report findings to DC Managers and appropriate Territory Managers.
  • Monitors the activities related to routing, dispatching, and tracking logistics of company fleet.
  • Experience with managing a “Hub and Spoke” transportation model.
  • Develop and standardize operational and safety processes and procedures for logistics team members.
  • Facilitate and host Driver Safety Training sessions, including but not limited to regional in-person sessions, on-the-road training, and virtual training sessions as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain Netradyne System to ensure safe driving practices are followed.
  • Make recommendations for driver training needs to DC Managers and Territory Managers.
  • Maintain and update, as necessary, any Federal or State-specific DOT safety regulations.
  • Monitor leases for the company logistics fleet, to include recommending renewal, replacements, additions, and potential cost savings.
  • Maintain and communicate a schedule for routine fleet maintenance requirements, necessary repair, and fuel usage to DC Mangers and appropriate Territory Managers so appropriate action can be taken without disruption of service to SYD customers.
  • Provide necessary data to support the Driver Incentive program.
  • Review, maintain, and disseminate the Driver Safety Manual annually, or more frequently as necessary
  • Travel to facilities, including overnight travel, as needed.
  • Provides Operations/Branch Operations Manager with performance results for drivers.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Federal and State DOT regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong background in warehouse operations including, shipping, receiving, delivery and inventory control
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft office and Warehouse Management Systems, Netradyne and Fleetio.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, vendor partners, outside suppliers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Be customer service centric
  • Understand and comply with SYD policies

Work Environment:

This job operates primarily in a hybrid environment in both an office and warehouse and logistics setting. Varying temperatures and moving equipment are present in the warehouse and on the road. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have:

  • The ability to climb a ladder
  • The ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and various warehousing machinery/tools
  • Ability to use a keyboard and type proficiently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

This position will require occasional travel.

Clearances and Certifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
  • Various clearances will be required
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years related experience in a transportation or logistics environment (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
