Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Student Activities is responsible for engaging and mentoring students in alignment with student development theory and best practices in the field of student affairs, promoting intercultural relations, positive identity development, equity, and inclusion. Reporting to the Director of Intercultural Student Affairs, this person leads, plans, and coordinates the student activities programs on campus that will enrich and enhance the student’s overall experience. The coordinator will supervise student organizations and facilitate meetings and partnerships that will further improve students’ engagement on campus. Efforts of the Coordinator of Student Activities align with the goals of the Division of Student Engagement and the strategic direction of the vision of North Park University.

  • Train, advise, assist Student Government Association with budget planning, goal setting, assessment, and elections.
  • Leads registered student organizations by providing leadership development, advisor training, policy development, budget and event planning support.
  • Support a robust calendar of student-led programming efforts for on- and off -campus activities, including working with vendors, venues, and performers to secure quotes and contracts, and partner with campus departments in implementation.
  • Manage the campus student engagement platform, NPUEngage.
  • Supports the student-led Student Activities Board.
  • Oversee the financial processes related to purchasing, procurement and reimbursements to maintain fiscal health of department and student government funds.
  • Offer innovative ideas and implement new program ideas.
  • Hire, train and supervise student activities student workers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience related to student affairs best practices related to to multicultural and gender issues and support for diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, administrators, faculty and staff members, and outside constituencies.
  • Experience with consensus-building and collaboration.
  • Experience with data-driven assessment and accountability through standardized metrics, such as climate study surveys and student experience instruments.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, work independently, take initiative and oversee a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park University’s mission of Christian higher education.
  • Have outstanding attention to detail and excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as required
