Job Overview

Primarily responsible for evaluating concurrent documentation so that medical records appropriately reflect the severity of patients' conditions. Under the limited supervision of the department manager and lead CDI specialist, will conduct reviews of medical records to identify missing, vague, and/or incomplete diagnoses; communicate the need for additional documentation to the appropriate medical and clinical staff; ensure the additional documentation is completed in a timely manner; works collaboratively with other departments including Coding, Performance Improvement, Compliance, Medical Staff, Utilization Review/Case Management, Medical Records and any other applicable departments to improve the quality of physician documentation; supports initiatives to improve the quality of documentation by all caregivers.

Required: Certification/License/Experience
  • Active license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana and Kentucky or a Compact License required
  • Five (5) years of related acute clinical experience required

Preferred: Certification/License/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • CDI certification
