Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Chemist is to conduct precise analytical tests following company and ASTM protocols as well as other recognized methods. This includes carry out complex chemical studies, experiments on organic and/or inorganic substances, analyses, and tests that demand technical expertise and skills for projects related to organizational research, production, or operations. The Chemist exercises independent judgement within defined guidelines to choose the most suitable approach.
Essential Duties
Recommends suggestions for improving analytical equipment, procedures, and techniques.
Collaborates on the development of new products and partners with production leadership to propose new product concepts.
Identifies market requirements and assesses business case.
Maintains consistent quality standards for current chemical products.
Supports the procurement of materials required for on-site production.
Maintains EPA Certification for all DiversiTech and BBJ product lines.
Maintains California Mill Assessment and any other fees in relation to chemical sales.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements
Required Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
5 - 10 years of experience in chemistry, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Intermediate experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working in a fast paced, high-volume work environment, whether individually or within a team
Proactive "self-starter" with a strong attention to detail, organization, and urgency
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Master's degree in Chemistry
Experience with chemicals in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing work setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the materials required for production. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
