Job Summary: The Carrier Sales Representative position develops and continuously builds long-term partnerships with carriers in providing outstanding service to Syfan Logistics' customers. The performance of the carrier sales representative function is vital to Syfan Logistics' ability to withstand volatility in the market. Negotiates and covers available and open freight. Collaborates with the operations team in a highly responsive, fast paced environment.

- TMS Proficiency: Utilizes Syfan Logistics' transportation management systems and other logistics technologies in executing the duties of the position.

- Proficiency in Operations Procedures: Performs position specific duties according to the established procedures in meeting Syfan and customer requirements.

- General to advanced knowledge of the 3PL transportation industry, trucking routes and equipment.
- Ability to solve problems and promptly execute decisions.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, customer web sites, keyboard proficiency, etc.).
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the highway systems, major cities, and all states.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to details.
- Effective Utilization of McLeod Sales Functions
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal team communications skills.
Roles and Responsibilities Summary: - Develops and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective carriers through persistent contact by phone or email
- Negotiates competitive rates for freight with carriers across various regions
- Monitors and tracks loads from pickup to delivery, resolves all load issues and takes ownership of any problem situations
- Works collaboratively with internal Customer Sales, Team Captains and Support team members to ensure customer needs are met
- Updates logistics management software throughout the day to maintain accuracy in sales and volume data/information
- Exceeds individual and team sales goals as assigned by management
- Meets individual productivity goals (ex. phone calls made, total talk time, etc.)
- Independently plans and manages daily activities
- Works non-traditional schedule which may include after-hours, off shifts or weekends
Experience and Skills: - Preferred: 2 years of carrier customer sales experience in 3PL transportation/freight sales
- Preferred: 1 year of experience with 3PL dispatching and route management
Education Requirements: - Required: High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in transportation logistics/freight management
- Preferred: Certified Transportation Brokerage certification
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is primarily a weekday position scheduled within standard daytime business hours. The position may occasionally require individuals to work outside of normal daytime business hours to handle business needs associated with the position responsibilities.
