Job Description

This position is responsible for the body repairs for all RTD buses, cars, trucks, vans and other equipment. Essential duties include repairing or rebuilding bus or automotive bodies, including major repairs, masking, painting, welding steel and aluminum, fabricating fiberglass, aluminum, steel plastic or other body parts as needed, cutting and fitting all body glass, safe operation and proper care of shop tools and equipment, and accurate completion of repair orders, core and warranty tags, parts slips and other records as required. Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications include 2 years work experience in a mechanical shop or a degree from a recognized body repair school, being at least 18 years old, having a clean motor vehicle record with no DUI, DWI or reckless driving in the past five years, ability to pass physical ability assessments and Department of Transportation physical examination, and ability to pass RTD basic body technician test and interview. Once hired, employees must maintain employment qualifications including passing on-the-job training and maintaining a CDL. The job requires working in various physical conditions including dust, fumes, noise, chemicals, confined spaces, and various weather conditions. The position requires possession of 80% of the approved Body Shop tool list at hire and 100% at the end of probation. Work schedule is 6:00am - 2:30pm with days off on Saturday and Sunday.
