About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing day-to-day field operations on large-scale water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who has field experience, a strong work ethic, and is ready to step into a leadership role while learning directly from experienced superintendents and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent in managing and coordinating daily field operations, subcontractors, and craft personnel
  • Support project scheduling and short-interval planning to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget
  • Help monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specs, and quality standards
  • Coordinate inspections, safety walks, and daily reports
  • Enforce site safety plans and promote a safety-first culture
  • Assist in the layout, material tracking, and documentation of installed work
  • Communicate with project managers and engineers to identify and resolve issues on-site
  • Develop leadership skills by mentoring laborers and foremen under the Superintendent's guidance

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, preferably in water/wastewater or underground utility work
  • Familiarity with interpreting construction drawings, specs, and schedules
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions on active construction sites
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
