Position Title : Student Worker - Archives


Department : LITS

Reports to : Archivist

Pay Rate : $11.00 per hour

Hours : 10-20 hours per week

Position Summary:

Support the Archivist in providing the general patron services of the department and, in the processing of archival materials. Emphasis on the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church collection.

Essential Functions:

• Assist the Archivist in researching requests from patrons.
• Assist the Archivist in the processing and arrangement of incoming manuscript collections, books, periodicals, and media.
• Assist in Archives maintenance (e.g., re-shelving library materials; shelf-reading; shifting; weeding).

Other Responsibilities:

• Special projects (e.g. scanning photographs, basic entry level cataloging, preparing materials for off-site storage)
• Perform other duties as needed or requested by the Archivist

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience and specialized knowledge of Archival research methods preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
• Good organizational skills, conscientious and attentive to details.
• Some lifting involved.
