About the Role

A venture philanthropy organization. We identify and support educational entrepreneurs who provide quality early education to vulnerable children in some of the most impoverished communities in the world. With your help we then provide those children who are at-risk of dropping out of school with annual scholarships and access to quality education. Our Purpose We believe in a world where every child has access to quality early education. With the organization it is all about dignity, not dependence, and choice, not charity. As a venture philanthropy firm, we use charitable donations to support education entrepreneurs and leaders who are helping us co-create a world our hearts know is possible. If we stay true to our core values and to each other, we can build a new world in which every child learns, everywhere. If we fail, then the lives of 70+ million children will be thrust into an unending cycle of poverty and despair from which there will be no escape. Alone, we may not save every child. The Role The Advisory Board exists to further the mission by: Introducing strategic / operational recommendations to the executive leadership Weighing in on proposed motions, prior to Board of Directors vote Engaging in an assigned Steering Committee (Development, Impact, Nominations, Events, etc.) Expanding the reach of the organization to professional, corporate, institutional network Raising funds and driving engagement around major events, galas Ideal Candidate If you are an impact oriented leader with a passion for education, and whose heart and mind is gravitating towards creating and building something new − we invite you to come explore and build a legacy that transforms this world. Attribute Checklist Gets that serving on a board is a privilege and a real responsibility Passion for the mission i.e. service before self Honors and respects the voices of others Ego in check; humility yet fierce resolve Strong work ethic; strive for excellence Sense of humor is a must Time Commitment: Quarterly in-person Board Meetings (Palo Alto and New York City) Monthly virtual Steering Committee meeting Make every effort to be available for galas, major events, school partner visits Financial Commitment: Give: Minimum $3,500 a year (typically structured as a monthly $300 give) Get: No 'get', but support from the Advisory Board is critical to the success of fundraising efforts We are seeking applications from qualified and highly motivated leaders who are passionate about our mission and who want to make an impact in the lives of the children we serve.
