The Bard Sequence is an equity-based program that brings rigorous BEC dual enrolment courses to historically marginalized student populations at partner high schools and school districts. It currently serves students in the Hudson Valley of New York, Brooklyn and the Bronx, NY, Orange, NJ, Plainfield, NJ, Camden, NJ, and Washington, DC.  The Bard Sequence has awarded over 4,000 transferable college credits since its inception in 2019.

Social Psychology is the study of human behavior, emotion, and thinking in social contexts such as families, relationships, friends, as well as broader social systems. Many of the important concepts of social psychology were developed out of important social events and shifts throughout history; these concepts will be discussed in context as well as applied to current events. Some of the questions we will explore include:
  • How does the situation we are in impact our behavior, thinking, and emotional processes?
  • When do people go out of their way to help each other?
  • What makes someone kind? Aggressive? Empathic?
  • How rational are our decisions?
  • Where do stereotypes and biases come from?
  • How much control (and responsibility) do we have over our behaviors, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions?
