Job Opportunity: Part-Time Accountant/Bookkeeper

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Join our client's dedicated team, a nonprofit organization based in Grand Rapids, committed to creating a positive impact on the community. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our client in a part-time capacity (20-30 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

1. Payroll:

   • Process biweekly payroll for 11 team members using QuickBooks Workforce/Online.

2. AP/AR:

   • Handle 1-2 physical checks per month.
   • Manage increased check volume during year-end appeals.
   • In-person check printing twice a month.
   • Manage low-volume Accounts Payable.

3. Communication with Leadership:

   • Provide regular updates and reports to the leadership team.

4. Reporting:

   • Generate and communicate financial reports.

5. Grant Management:

   • Report on grant expenditure status promptly.
   • Address any deviations from the planned budget.

6. Yearly Paperwork:

   • Prepare and submit necessary paperwork, including 990s and 5500s.

7. Budget Management:

   • Review, articulate concerns, and track budget trends.
   • Ensure all budgets are accurately maintained on file.

Qualifications:

Must:

• 2-3 years of work experience in general accounting.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks (highly preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft products.

Plus:

• Nonprofit accounting experience (highly preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience with grants.
• 3+ years of work experience.
• Budget management experience.

Pay Rate: $55,000 - $65,000
