Job Description

Penn Terminals is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate accounting and technical accounting, with a solid understanding of GAAP and regulatory reporting. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and providing insightful financial analysis to support business decisions. Qualified candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.

Core Responsibilities include, but not limited to

• Prepare monthly general ledger journal entries and month end accruals.
• Prepares & file sales and use tax returns.
• Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Perform Financial analysis.
• Review monthly P&L and ensure accuracy.
• Assist with financial and tax audits.
• Assist with the month-end closing process adhering to strict deadlines.
• Provide back-up and support to the Finance Team
• Takes the initiative and seeks process improvement opportunities within assigned responsibilities.
• Completes other duties as assigned to meet accounting department responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Proven experience in corporate accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions for data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience with accounts receivable management and general ledger accounting practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective financial report writing.
• Familiarity with securities law is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work
