We are looking for a part-time science specialist in the San Francisco Bay Area who is able to work in and near Atherton, CA, for hybrid, one-on-one in-person and online tutoring. Experience with high school sciences (chemistry/biology) up to AP Biology and AP Chemistry is required, and experience with high school math (Algebra 1/2, Geometry, & Trigonometry), high school physics (up to AP Physics), and the IB Diploma Program is preferred.

Job Description

ESM Prep is seeking an energetic and engaging tutor who is a content expert in science and a kind mentor who can support their students holistically. The tutors in this position will primarily work with students in person, 1-on-1, tutoring them in the areas of high school science up through AP Biology and AP Chemistry . High School math and/or College-level science knowledge is preferred, and a willingness to be trained as an SAT and ACT tutor is a plus!

We call our tutors Academic Mentors because we prioritize the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching.

Job Requirements

• 2+ years of direct experience 1-on-1 tutoring in many, if not all, of the following subjects: high school science up to AP Biology, AP, Chemistry
• Experience with high school math (Algebra 1/2, Geometry, & Trigonometry), high school physics (up to AP Physics), and the IB Diploma Program is preferred
• A willingness to train (paid) to tutor the SAT/ACT is a big plus!
• Bachelor's degree
• Availability to tutor during weekdays (usually after 3 PM) and/or weekends (a tutor's typical work schedule is Sunday-Thursday). Some weekday sessions will start late due to after-school activities. Scheduling is flexible
• Availability to tutor through at least June 2025
• Reliable Internet access (fast enough for video conferencing)
• Experience working with students with learning differences is a plus
• Reliable transportation

Compensation/Benefits:

• wage: $60-$70 per hour teaching rate
